The Design

Nº 1 SIDEBOARD unites minimalist design with convenient serving space and functional storage capacity. 

While its conventional counterparts always need to be positioned up against a wall, Nº 1 SIDEBOARD’s unique construct allows it to be approached and used from all sides. It features two grooves for its three tambour doors — the two main doors slide in the outer groove while the third door slides in the inner grove. All three doors can be guided 360° around Nº 1 SIDEBOARD. The third door doubles up as the back panel, thereby lending this furniture piece its versatility for placement and positioning within any room. Traditionally, the tambour doors’ canvas lining would be concealed behind a back panel. Here, the mustard-yellow fabric is accentuated as a key design element.

Danish soap was chosen for the surface treatment to preserve the natural oak’s colour. It also serves as a gliding agent for the doors. To facilitate transport and repairs, Nº 1 SIDEBOARD can be disassembled into the following components: top, bottom, body, doors and legs.
